So many great people throughout history have said such profound things, one of my favorite hobbies since childhood has been the collection of quotations. Recently, I found one that explained why: "It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations. Bartlett's Familiar Quotations is an admirable work, and I studied it intently. The quotations when engraved upon the memory give you good thoughts. They also make you anxious to read the authors and look for more." Sir Winston Churchill, Roving Commission: My Early Life, 1930, Chapter 9 I am glad that I enjoyed this educational hobby. I am certain it is greatly responsible (along with my parents) for my broad interests in so many subjects. Email me at: longanimous@hotmail.com This page was last updated on 03/09/04 . |
